Parent code of conduct

East Valley Swim Team Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct

Please be aware of the following EVST parent code of conduct to help your swimmer not only become successful, but also a mature individual. 

1. Parents are not allowed to coach their child or other swimmers on the sideline during practices or swim meets. 

2. Parents will show respect to the Coach by not giving instructions to their child or other swimmers on how to swim during practices or meets. Doing so creates distractions for both the Coach and the swimmer. 

3. Any concerns or questions relating to your child’s swimming must be addressed to the Head Coach in writing.

4. Parents are not allowed to assist their child when they stop at the wall to rest. It is the responsibility of the Coach to deal with the situation as he/she sees fit. The Coach is teaching your child to be self-reliant, and a parent “coming to their rescue” does not achieve that goal. The Coach has the experience and expertise to determine the proper actions to take, if and when needed. 

5. Parents are not allowed to engage in conversations with the Coach while practice is in session or during warm-ups at swim meets. 

6. Parents will respect the officials and their authority during competitions. No parent will question, discuss, or confront coaches or officials at a meet or practice. Instead, parents should communicate with coaches at a time and place agreed upon in advance, and/or in writing (email).

Failure to follow the above rules and guidelines may have adverse consequences for your family, including, but not limited to, verbal or written warnings from the Head Coach, and/or immediate removal of the swimmer/family at a practice, meet or from the team.
