Pre-Developmental
Skill Requirement: To qualify for this group, a swimmer should be comfortable to tread water independently in deep water for a decent amount of time. Open to 5-10 years old.
Skill Goals: A t the end of the course, swimmers should be able to swim basic freestyle with arm cycle and efficient side breathing. As well as basic backstroke with good body position for up to 25 yards.
Developmental I
Skill Requirement: To qualify for this group, a swimmer should be able to swim freestyle and backstroke independently for 15 yards.
Skill Goals: Swimmers learn top quality stroke technique in all four competitive strokes including advance freestyle, advance backstroke, basic breaststroke and advance butterfly. All strokes to be performed legally according to the USA Swimming standard and hold superior technique for at least 25 yards, as well as perform forward dive and flip turns.
BRONZE
Skill Requirement: To qualify for this group, a swimmer should be able to swim all four competitive strokes – freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly – legally based on USA Swimming guidelines and with great technique. Demonstrate proficiency in forward dive and flip turns. Most swimmers are 10 or younger age group.
Skill Goals: Swimmers in this group continue to develop strong stroke technique in all four competitive strokes while increasing endurance and learning different stroke drills to enhance stroke mechanics. Individual Medley, Breaststroke pull-out and backstroke flip turns, race strategies and pace work are introduced. Swimmers train to advance to SILVER group.
SILVER
Skill Requirement: To qualify for this group, a swimmer must demonstrate strong stroke technique in all four strokes, flip turns, breaststroke pull outs, forward dive and pass the test set. Swimmers attend swim meets at least once a month.
Skill Goals: Increase fitness, increase intensity workout for longer period of times. Continue to build on technique while focusing on endurance. Understand the different concepts of training for maximum speed. Swimmers train to advance to GOLD and achieve multiple "B" qualifying times.
GOLD
Skill Requirement: Must demonstrate all the skills in SILVER group and pass the test set.
Swimmers attend swim meets at least once a month. Can perform high stress workout, underwaters and advance techniques. Swimmers show dedication in pursuing swimming as the sport.
Skill Goals: Increase yardage and perform high stress workouts for longer period of time. Swimmers have "BB" or "A" qualifying times.
SENIOR
Skill requirement: To qualify for this group, a swimmer should be able to hold stroke technique for at least 50 yards in all four competitive strokes including Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Individual medley. Perform flip turns, forward dive from the blocks consistently, perform breaststroke pull outs correctly and pass aerobic Threshold test set to qualify for this group.
Skill Goals: Increase distance per stroke, aerobic threshold and endurance, improve technique, increase mileage and intensity of work. Pass challenge sets. Display a clear understanding in executing goal sets pertaining to pace sets and descending sets. Swimmer displays the ability and desire to race when called upon and be able to push themselves to the next level.
SENIOR PLUS
Skill Requirement: To qualify for this group, a swimmer should be able to swim all four competitive strokes – freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly – legally based on USA Swimming guidelines. In addition, the swimmer should be able to hold stroke technique on all four strokes for at least 100 yards. Perform breakouts pass the flags. The swimmer is able to perform freestyle flip turns, backstroke flip turns, breaststroke pull-out, underwater breakouts, track start from starting blocks, meet target times consistently and pass the test set.
Skill Goals: Swimmers continue to enhance stroke technique to achieve efficient swimming, increase endurance and yardage to be ready for competitive level. Perform high intensity aerobic workouts for longer period of time. Swimmer is able to pass challenge sets and withstand descending pace work and hold target times consistently.
HIGH SCHOOL
Skill Requirement: Junior high and high school students who can swim 50 yard Freestyle and Backstroke with decent technique and pass the test set.
Skill Goals: Swimmers in this group prepare for the high school swim season in the Fall. Swimmers get a head start by developing technique and speed to get them ahead of other high school competitors. Track your progress and set goals early in the season by participating in high school developmental swim meets year-round.
